February 22nd, 2011 as promised... Life Way Christian School hosted the ACSI STATE speech meet.
Earlier in the school year both Caden AND Dru qualified for State by placing 1st in the Life Way competition. This time the boys were up against the best of the best. The top 2 students in each category: poetry, fables, and scripture memory per grade, per school. Our school was in session only for a half day. The second half of the day we were the host to 9 area schools. The speech competitions were from 1:00-4:00 and of course... BOTH of our boys were designated to compete in different rooms at the exact same time... 2:10!!! Not ok!!! Sooooo, in came the perks of having inside connections, and working at the school! Dru's super sweet teacher Mrs. Gourd... who was the Speech meet coordinator pulled some strings and Caden was able to compete first in his division, and Dru was able to compete last in his division, thus Mom, Dad, and Mamaw did not have to divide and conquer! Yeah! We could all watch both boys!
When 4:30 came around we were able to cheer on both of our little actors. Dru took home a 1st place ribbon, and had enough extra bonus points to bring in a GOLD metal also! (In fact the next day I had two separate people come up to me and tell me that they were part of the tallying committee, and that Dru had one of the absolute highest scores of all grades, and all categories for the entire meet! Can you tell I'm a proud mamma?!!) Caden also earned a 1st place blue ribbon. In his 4th grade poetry category there was a 3 way tie. When the bonus points were totaled Caden earned a BRONZE metal! We were very proud of our two lil' actors. It was wonderful that Mamaw was able to drive in from Monett just for the afternoon. It made it special for the kids to have her there! Afterward we all celebrated with dinner together before Mamaw drove back to Missouri.
Next year Eston will be old enough to compete. I wonder where he will fall in this mix?! Watch out brothers!!!
